Protocol Simulator and Test Script Builder for the LnK SLIMbus® Traffic Generator

Romsée, Belgium – 25th January, 2010 – LnK, the leading provider of test and verification solutions for SLIMbus®, today announced its new SLIMbus test script builder application. This new tool offers test engineers a very comfortable and easy way to produce free test scripts in a few mouse clicks. The application will directly generate XML scripts to be used with the LnK SLIMbus Traffic Generator.

“Up to now, the XML test scripts used by the Traffic Generator had to be written manually. However, the test scenarios are getting more and more sophisticated. In our continuous effort to support our customers, we decided to release a powerful XML test script builder that will allow the test engineers to focus more on the device testing rather than on the script generation. Our main focus is to bring the most efficient solutions to our customers.” said Xavier Lambrecht, co-founder and Managing Director of LnK.

The test script builder is not only an XML script generator, it is a complete SLIMbus protocol simulator. Associated with the LnK SLIMbus Bandwidth Management toolbox, released about a year ago, the script builder enables a graphical display of the complete bus state over time (framing structure and data channels).

“When we started to think about the functionalities of the script builder, it became obvious that the application should be more than just an XML script generator. The only way to prevent mistakes in writing a script is to make sure that all the message and frame parameters are verified by a fully featured SLIMbus protocol simulator. This project moved from a minor application to a full-blown major software tool. And we are very proud of the results.”, said Johan Klewais, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of LnK.

LnK is offering the script builder application free of charge to any MIPI® Alliance member companies. As a test script builder, it will definitively and obviously be helpful to any users of the LnK SLIMbus Traffic Generator. As a SLIMbus protocol simulator, it can be used for training and demonstration purpose. “We hope that this initiative will further ease the adoption of the SLIMbus interface by the mobile phone industry and will allow any engineers curious about the way SLIMbus works to get their hands on it at no cost.” said Xavier Lambrecht, co-founder and Managing Director of LnK.

The LnK SLIMbus Protocol Analyzers and Traffic Generators are today widely spread in the industry. More than 10 major semiconductor companies trusted LnK know-how, support and services. The LnK tools are seen by the industry as being the main vector of interoperability success.

“The MIPI® Alliance appreciates LnK’s dedicated time and resources for the success of SLIMbus. With their testing solutions, LnK considerably eased the adoption of SLIMbus by the semiconductor industry.”, said Joel Huloux, Chairman of MIPI Alliance.

About The MIPI® Alliance

The Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI®) Alliance is an open membership organization that includes leading companies in the mobile industry that share the objective of defining and promoting specifications for interfaces in mobile terminals. MIPI Specifications establish standards for hardware and software interfaces between the processors and peripherals typically found in mobile terminal systems. By defining such standards and encouraging their adoption throughout the industry value chain, the MIPI Alliance intends to reduce fragmentation and improve interoperability among system components, benefiting the entire mobile industry.
